Named after one of the toughest off-roading trails in North America, the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon has consistently dominated the trails since its introduction to the Wrangler lineup in 2003. Twenty years later, the Wrangler Rubicon continues to win the hearts and minds of off-road enthusiasts by conquering all. To celebrate the Wrangler Rubicon’s winning history, Jeep has made a Wrangler 4xe Rubicon and Wrangler Rubicon 392 20th Anniversary Special Edition. Continue reading below to learn more!
Standard Features for the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon
While all trim levels of the Jeep Wrangler have earned the Trail Rated badge, the Rubicon takes the off-roading chops the Wrangler is known for and amplifies them. It separates itself from the rest of the lineup with Rock-Trac 4×4. While the Wrangler’s other 4×4 systems perform well during light and moderate off-roading situations, Rock-Trac is designed to tackle any terrain you need it to. By using a two-speed transfer case with a low-range gear ratio of 4:1, the Rubicon achieves astounding control while crawling over rugged terrain. The 4:1 gear ratio means that for every four turns of the transmission output shaft, the transfer case output shaft turns once. This provides more torque to the wheels while crawling at low speeds. Aiding in traction control are the Wrangler Rubicon’s locking differentials. At the push of a button, the driver can lock the rear wheels or all four wheels to rotate at the same speed to carry the Wrangler’s momentum over rough terrain in a controlled manner. The Wrangler Rubicon also comes exclusively with an electronically disconnecting front sway bar. This allows the driver to unlink the stabilizer bar by pushing a button to allow the wheels to compress and drop further, creating greater wheel articulation to keep the wheels on the ground so they can keep the Wrangler moving in the right direction. Other standard Wrangler Rubicon features include red front and rear tow hooks, FOX suspension parts, a one-inch factory lift, 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, and more.
What Do the Wrangler Rubicon 20th Anniversary Editions Add?
As was mentioned above, the Wrangler Rubicon 20th Anniversary editions are available for the Wranger Rubicon 4xe and Wrangler Rubicon 392. While the 4xe is powered by a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle system providing 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, the Rubicon 392 thrills with 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque from a 6.4L HEMI V8. The Wrangler’s traditional upright seven-slot grille comes with an exclusive upgrade for the 20th Anniversary edition, helping onlookers separate it from the other Wrangler Rubicons. While the Rubicon 4xe 20th Anniversary edition adds an exclusive Electric Blue-accented anti-glare hood decal and other Electric Blue accents, the Rubicon 392 special edition adds orange exterior accents and an orange-accented hood decal. Both models feature a steel front bumper with an integrated grille guard, a Gorilla Glass windshield, heavy-duty rock sliders, Jeep’s TrailCam forward-facing off-roading camera, 33-inch BFGoodrich T/A KO2 all-terrain tires, 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, and a half-inch lift. The factory lift kit provides the Rubicon 4xe with an 11.2-inch ground clearance and the Rubicon 392 with 11.6 inches of ground clearance. Inside, you’ll find all-weather floor mats, a red leather-wrapped instrument panel, unique black/red seating, red seat belts, a ‘Rubicon 20th’ shifter medallion, and more. The Rubicon 392 20th Anniversary comes exclusively with a built-in air compressor to adjust tire pressure on the trails. Additionally, the Rubicon 392 20th Anniversary edition brings the Xtreme Recon package, which adds wheel flare extensions, 35-inch BFGoodrich T/A KO2 tires, Mopar hinge-gate reinforcement, a Mopar tire relocation kit, a 4.56 rear axle ratio, and more.
AEV Level II Package
Jeep has been partnering with American Expedition Vehicles, or AEV, for years. AEV provides Jeep enthusiasts with accessories, fully-built vehicles, parts, and more to make their off-roading vehicles an off-roading beast. Jeep partnered with AEV once again to provide the 2023 Wrangler Rubicon 4xe and Rubicon 392 with the 20th Anniversary Level II package. The Level II package adds AEV-manufactured LED off-roading lights, an off-road jack base, a steering damper, tire carriers, skid plates, and bumpers. Additionally, the AEV 2.5-inch Dual-Sport RT suspension with Bilstein shocks provides the Wrangler Rubicon 392 20th Anniversary with a hulking 14.2 inches of ground clearance. The same BFGoodrich T/A KO2 tires are used for the Level II, but are increased in size to 37 inches.
