What are the Trim Levels of the 2023 Dodge Hornet?
For the 2023 model year, Dodge is introducing a totally new model into the lineup. This is, of course, the 2023 Dodge Hornet! The Hornet is a new take on some of Dodge’s classic design themes, presented in a whole new way. For example, it’s the first compact-utility vehicle, or CUV, offered by the brand. However, there’s also lots of variety within the range, including a selection of three trim levels. The first two are gas-powered models known as the GT and GT Plus. The third is a new hybrid model known as the R/T. Across the board, you’ll find a wealth of exciting features like LED exterior lighting, a standard safety package, and signature Dodge design themes like the Dodge emblem, dual exhaust, and a wide array of eye-catching exterior paint colors.
What is the Dodge Hornet’s Gas-Powered Engine?
As we mentioned above, the GT and GT Plus trims are both gas-powered vehicles. However, they’re totally different than the Dodge vehicles you’ve seen thus far! Under the hood, you’ll find a brand-new engine option for the Dodge brand, known as the Hurricane 4. This is a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4, which comes with standard all-wheel drive, and a 9-speed automatic transmission. When equipped with this powertrain, the Hornet can deliver an impressive 265 horsepower, and 295 lb-ft of torque! Not only that, but the GT and GT Plus offer a Sport Mode setting, which will allow you to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 6.5 seconds. This is achieved with the help of stiffer suspension, tighter steering, and an electronic limited-slip differential.
What is the Dodge Hornet’s Hybrid Powertrain?
The new Hurricane4 engine isn’t the only new powertrain joining the 2023 Dodge Hornet lineup! There’s another hybrid powertrain option available, and it can be found on the R/T trim. The R/T is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, which means a portion of its power comes from a rechargeable battery pack. As you can imagine, this helps you save big on gas, and reduce your carbon emissions. The R/T’s hybrid powertrain includes a 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which works hand-in-hand with an electric motor, mounted to the rear axle. The electric motor is powered by a 15.5-kWh rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and delivers up to 288 horsepower, and up to 30 miles of all-electric range. Plus, the R/T also offers three drive modes, Hybrid, E-Save, and Electric. With these modes, you can choose how you’d like to use your Hornet’s energy.
