For Charging Not Parking
Try to move your car as soon as possible when you’re done charging. Other people will need to fill up their electric vehicles. Some charging stations such as ChargePoint Charging Station have an app that will let you know when your electric vehicle is done charging. As well as, allow drivers to get into a virtual line when all the charging stations are busy. Taking up a charging station spot for hours can seem inconsiderate to other electric vehicle drivers. You don’t have to move the instant you’re done charging but be sure to be considerate of others who made need to charge their vehicles. Don’t be that electric vehicle driver who treats a charging spot as a personal all-day parking spot. Electric vehicle charging spots are for charging and not parking!
Try Not to Unplug Anyone
To unplug other electric vehicle drivers from their parking spots can seem impolite. Try to avoid unplugging someone from their charging station unless you are absolutely sure they are okay with you unplugging their vehicle. If you’re absolutely desperate to fill your electric vehicle up and if someone left a note stating that it was okay to unplug their vehicle then it is fine to unplug them. Instead of pulling the plug on other electric vehicle drivers, we can work together to eliminate any need to unplug other drivers’ vehicles. We can do so by moving our vehicles as soon as possible when we are completely done charging. Since some electric vehicle drivers have a backup gas engine some people think it is okay to unplug plug-in hybrid drivers. These drivers also have a right to electrons and charging stations as well!
You Don’t Have to Always Aim for 100%
Topping your electric vehicle off around town is a perfect and convenient way to keep your battery fully charged or close to it. Although someone might pull up in their electric vehicle at a 10 percent charge and is desperately in need of electrons. But if you have an 80 or 90 percent battery charge you might think about kindly moving by getting your vehicle charged at a later time or at home. If you need the extra miles to get you to where you need to go then it’s okay to stay plugged in. If you do decide to plug in let people know when it is okay to unplug you by leaving a note.
