While we think that both of these vehicles would make a tremendous addition to your driveway, there are a few differences between them that we will cover. About the Grand Cherokee L
The first thing we want to mention about the Grand Cherokee L is the amount of space it has. The Grand Cherokee has the ability to seat up to seven people, whereas the Grand Cherokee can seat up to five. In addition, the people who are seated in the third row have a ton of leg room, and they are not squeezed into their seats. Jeep designers have found a way to make the third row very spacious for adults. When we talk about the mid-size class, the Grand Cherokee has the most room as the seats are built to accommodate adults. Thanks to its wider body, the Grand Cherokee offers more space than the Grand Cherokee. The Grand Cherokee offers passengers up to 70.8 cubic feet of total cargo space, while the Grand Cherokee L can hold up to 84.6 cubic feet of cargo space. With its standard third row of seats and a larger cargo area, the Grand Cherokee L is the pick for those who have a large family.
About the Grand Cherokee
While the Grand Cherokee, you get an SUV that’s very easy to drive, even though it’s 11.4-inches smaller than the Grand Cherokee L. Its smaller size allows it to get in and out of parking spaces a little bit easier. One of the things that the Grand Cherokee has that the Grand Cherokee L doesn’t is the off-road capable Trailhawk which has several advanced features such as a standard four-wheel-drive, a limited-slip differential, air suspension, tow hooks, skid plates, a sway bar, and a terrain management system. While the Grand Cherokee L isn’t exactly incapable of going off-road, having the Trailhawk trim makes the Grand Cherokee the choice for those who want to take their adventure to the next level.
Engine Options for the Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L
Both the Grand Cherokee and the Grand Cherokee L share many of the same power options as they both have a 3.6-liter V6 that is capable of producing 293 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque and a 5.7-liter V8 that pumps out a solid 357 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. The V6 comes standard with rear-wheel-drive with the option for four-wheel-drive, while the V8 engine is standard with four-wheel-drive. The difference between the two is the 4xe engine options which is only available for the Grand Cherokee. This is a hybrid engine that uses a turbocharged four-cylinder for a base and then adds a battery pack and two electric motors to create a massive 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque while also throwing in up to 25-miles of all-electric range. If you want a vehicle that is environmentally friendly and will use a little less gas, then check out the Grand Cherokee 4xe!
