Meet The 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer

The Wagoneer starts out with two trim level options to choose from. Those trim levels are named the Series II and the Series III. Both trim levels share the same powertrain, and many of the same safety features, but they do vary in terms of the interior and exterior features they provide. The Grand Wagoneer’s lineup operates in a similar fashion, but in this case there are four trim levels to choose from, the Series I, Series II, Series III, and Obsidian. Again, all four trim levels share one powertrain, and there are some similarities across the board, but each trim level adds more and more features as you move up the list. Down below, we’ll highlight some of those features in more detail!

Both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer offer outstanding power and capability, but they do vary a bit in terms of what you’ll find under the hood. The Wagoneer utilizes a 5.7-liter V8 engine on both its trim levels. This engine is capable of producing 392 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque. This engine also incorporates an eTorque mild hybrid system that maximizes its fuel efficiency, and pairs with an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard for the Wagoneer, but 4-wheel drive is an available option. For the Grand Wagoneer, the standard powertrain consists of a 6.4-liter V8 engine offering 471 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the Wagoneer, the Grand Wagoneer does not feature the eTorque system, but it does utilize the same transmission, an 8-speed TorqueFlite automatic. Another difference here is that the Grand Wagoneer features standard 4-wheel drive on all trim levels, with the Quadra-Drive II 4X4 transfer case.

Both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer have some exciting features in store for the 2022 model year. For example, the Wagoneer offers standard Nappa leather interior, heated and ventilated front seats, a cloth headliner, and tri-zone automatic climate control. The Grand Wagoneer’s features follow the same theme, but put an extra emphasis on luxury. For example, while its Series I trim level features Nappa leather interior, it kicks things up a notch on upper trim levels with premium quilted Palermo leather. It also offers heating and ventilation for both the first and second rows of seats, as well as a built-in massage function for the driver and front passenger. In place of a cloth headliner, the Grand Wagoneer’s headliner is upholstered in suede, and features a black suede option for the Obsidian trim. Other premium features include color tinted glass, a cooler bin, and four-zone automatic climate control.

One important thing to note is that neither the Wagoneer nor the Grand Wagoneer skimps on safety! Some of the standard safety features found on both models include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection, hill-start assist, a ParkView rear back-up camera, adaptive cruise control, and more. The Wagoneer offers additional options like drowsy driver detection and traffic sign recognition, which the Grand Wagoneer includes as standard on some of its upper trim levels. In terms of technology, both SUVs feature the Uconnect 5 system, with a 10.1-inch screen for the Wagoneer, and a 12-inch screen for the Grand Wagoneer. The Grand Wagoneer also offers an exclusive 23-speaker McIntosh sound system, standard on the Obsidian and Series III.

Both the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are highly impressive three-row SUVs, and their release can’t come soon enough!
