What’s New for the 2023 Grand Wagoneer
The 2023 model year brings out an array of newly available options for the Grand Wagoneer. The most notable of which is the all-new Grand Wagoneer L. In its basic form, the Grand Wagoneer is a large, three-row SUV offering room for seven or eight passengers. However, the Grand Wagoneer L takes this size to the next level. The Grand Wagoneer L adds twelve inches to the length of the standard model, as well as five inches to the rear overhang and seven inches to the wheelbase. This additional exterior size brings the cargo space behind the third row to 44.2 cubic feet, up from the standard model’s 28.4 cubic feet. Meanwhile, with the second and third-row seats folded, the standard model offers 94.2 cubic feet of cargo volume, while the Grand Wagoneer L offers 112.9 cubic feet. The second new option for 2023 is an eight-seat layout, taking out the second-row center console and adding a middle seat. The last new feature for 2023 is the all-new twin-turbocharged engine which is standard equipment for the Series II and all remaining trim levels.
2023 Grand Wagoneer Engine and Drivetrain Options
Standard equipment for the entry-level Grand Wagoneer trim is still the same 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine that it was introduced with. The HEMI engine provides drivers with 471 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. However, as we mentioned above, the 2023 model year introduces an all-new 3.0L twin-turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine named Hurricane6. The high-output Hurricane6 engine, which comes standard with the Grand Wagoneer Series II, Obsidian, and Series III, delivers an impressive 510 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. The Grand Wagoneer comes with Quadra-Drive II 4×4, one of Jeep’s most impressive 4×4 systems. Quadra-Drive II uses an active two-speed transfer case with 4-high and 4-low modes and can automatically shift between two low modes. Quadra-Drive II is a full-time, automatic 4×4 system that sends power from front to rear and left to right, seamlessly distributing engine power to the most traction wheels. Additionally, the Quadra-Drive II system works in conjunction with a limited-slip rear differential that can send up to 100% of available engine torque to the single rear wheel with the most traction to eliminate tire slip. The Grand Wagoneer’s all-terrain performance can be controlled by the Selec-Terrain traction management system with Auto, Sport, Snow, Rock, and Sand/Mud modes.
